For my mask picture I decided that I wanted to make the inside and outside very different, while still relating to a main idea. The two sides of my mask relate to how the world sees us, or primarily, more toward how we as Christians see ourselves relating to the world (being in it, but not of it) protecting ourselves with Christ. I shaped the mask to look almost like a shield, which is why I have the Lion emblem on the front. This is an emblem that is usually placed on a shield, and also can be related to the strength that the followers of Christ. While the front looks like a shield, as we are shielded by Christ from the world, the inside of the mask includes all of the characteristics that we carry inside ourselves through our lives in this world, characteristics that we receive from Christ alone. Concerning the setting of the pictures, I used the light coming out of the door and the exit sign as a representation of heaven. The first picture where we see the front of the mask, or shield, behind it we have the representation of heaven, regarding the idea that we are bringing the kingdom of God to the earth. So while the shield is facing the darkness (or the earth), the light is behind me, just as the light and power of the kingdom of heaven is behind us. At first I was just going to have the picture where we see the inside of the mask, facing the darkness, but I like the idea of when we are looking at the light, and looking toward heaven, we can more clearly see these attributes in ourselves. The darkness is behind us, around the door of heaven, and when we are looking out of the exit of the world we see grace, and change, and freedom.
